Orthopaedists' knowledge of the properties and typical responses of bone and other tissue to injury, and engineers' knowledge of the magnitude and direction of forces and of material properties, can combine to help resolve some problems forensic engineers face in analyzing certain personal injury and product liability cases. The authors present four cases illustrating this interaction in which engineers and orthopaedists, working together, were able to resolve issues neither professional alone could have answered.
